2013 Lincoln's Christmas in June Triathlon:

  • Lincoln State Park's 1st triathlon put on by Crossroads Event Management! We are organizing a fun and competitive triathlon for all near Santa Claus, Indiana. There will 2 triathlons a sprint distance beginning at 8:00 a.m. and an olympic distance beginning at 8:45. The swim will take place in the beautiful Lake Lincoln with a large beach, the bike portion is an out and back on the surrounding county roads, and ends with a run on the park trails wrapping around Lake Lincoln. Come enjoy this beautiful venue and great race with us!

  • Course Information:

    SPRINT DISTANCE INFORMATION:

    There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:45 near the beach balcony.

    The sprint race will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. with a time trial start of 1 person every 3 seconds depending on your approximate 400 meter swim time. The swim will be in a rectangle from and too Lake Lincoln's beach. You will then exit to the transition area in the parking lot behind the beach house. You will then leave transition out of the back of the parking lot.

    The bike is an out and back that leaves out the front entrance to Lincoln State Park and crosses county road 1600 N to continue on county road 300. You will take a quick left then right to continue on this road just past the 1 mile mark. You will follow the road crossing S. Washington Street until just after the 4 mile mark where you will take a right onto county road 225 E. where you will turn around at the 5 mile mark and head back the same route. Please remember to look behind you before turning to make sure you are not cutting off any Olympic distance riders whom may be behind you.

    You will then enter the transition area for T2 in the same front entrance as you entered after the swim. You will then leave T2 out the back as you did for the bike to start your run. The run takes place on mostly the trails of the park. You will begin on trail 2 which will loop you out around the perimeter of the park and will merge into trail 1 which will take you around the back side of Lake Lincoln to finish near the start beach. There will be a water station at 1.5 miles on the trails.

    OLYMPIC DISTANCE INFORMATION

    There will be a pre-race meeting at 8:30 by the beach balcony.

    The swim will start promptly at 8:45 with an elite wave. The rest of the field will then start 1 person every 3 seconds depending on your approximate 1500 meter swim time. The swim will be in a rectangle from and too Lake Lincoln's beach. You will then exit to the transition area in the parking lot behind the beach house. You will then leave transition out of the back of the parking lot.

    The bike is an out and back that leaves out the front entrance to Lincoln State Park and crosses county road 1600 N to continue on county road 300. You will take a quick left then right to continue on this road just past the 1 mile mark. You will follow the road crossing S. Washington Street until just after the 4 mile mark where you will take a right onto county road 225 E. This road will merge into county road 1100 N. You will follow the road to the 20k mark where you will turn around for the race back. There will be water at the turn around point.

    You will then enter the transition area for T2 in the same front entrance as you entered after the swim. You will then leave T2 out the back as you did for the bike to start your run. The run takes place on mostly the trails of the park. You will begin on trail 2 which will loop you out around the perimeter of the park. You will then turn onto a trail that will take you by the park's fire tower and will then merge onto trail 3. You will then turn onto trail 5 which you will follow to the finish near the original beach start. There will be water stations at approximately 1.5 and 3 miles along the course.

    TRAVEL DIRECTIONS FROM INDIANAPOLIS:

    I-65 route: Start on I-65 S for 105 miles, Merge onto I-265 W/IN-62 W/Lee H Hamilton Hwy via EXIT 6B toward I-64/New Albany for 6.7 miles, then Merge onto I-64 W via EXIT 0 toward St. Louis for 65.5 miles, Merge onto US-231 S via EXIT 57Atoward Dale for 5.9 miles, Take the IN-162 ramp toward Santa Claus/Gentryville for 0.4 miles, Turn right onto IN-162 for 1.2 miles the destination should be on your left.

    IN-37 to IN-45 route: Take IN-37 S. for 43.1 miles, Take the IN-45 S/Second St. ramp towardBloomfield Rd. for 0.4 miles, Turn right onto IN-45 S/2nd St. Continue to follow IN-45 S. for 13.2 miles, Turn slight right onto IN-45. for 7.5 miles, Turn right onto IN-45/IN-58. Continue to follow IN-45. for 26 miles, Turn right onto E Broadway St/US-50/US-150/US-231/IN-45. for 0.5 miles, Turn left onto US-231/IN-45 for 20.2 miles, Turn right onto W 6th St/US-231/IN-45/IN-56. Continue to follow US-231 S. for 20.1 miles, Take the IN-162 ramp toward Santa Claus/Gentryville for 0.4 miles, Turn right onto IN-162 for 1.2 miles, the destination should be on your left

    We will also be selling discounted Holiday World tickets at packet pickup and on the beach after the race you can check out the theme park here http://www.holidayworld.com/. We suggest you race and enjoy Lincoln State Park Saturday and enjoy the theme park Sunday! You can also reserve a campsite here Camp.In.Gov or call 1-866-622-6746. The campsites are right next to the transition area and it may be a convenient choice for you to stay, there are also hotels near the park. Bring your whole family to enjoy a fun filled weekend!
