2013 Lobsterman Triathlon & Aquabike :

  • The Lobsterman Triathlon is one of the most popular destination races in New England, attracting 900 athletes from across the US.
  • The Lobsterman features a stunning venue on the coast of Freeport, ME.
  • A truly amazing Maine experience, complete with a full lobsterbake following the race.

    • Course Information:

    Olympic Distance Triathlon:

    Swim 1.5K (.93 miles):

  • Starting at the boat launch near the entrance to Winslow park, athletes will do a counterclockwise triangular swim in Casco Bay that finishes at the beach.

    Bike 40K (24.86 Miles):

  • Bike along the coastline of Freeport and into Brunswick. Route is a challenging lollipop, with rolling terrain.
  • There will be a bottle exchange at approximately mile 13.

    Run 10K (6.2 miles):

  • Leave Winslow park and run through the quaint village of South Freeport before returning.
  • The course features closed roads and A strong downhill finish!
  • There will be aid stations with water, PowerAde, Hammergel, pretzels, and other products at approximately every mile.

    Aquabike
  • A great option for athletes who only want to swim and bike, the Aquabike course is the same as the Triathlon, minus the run! Aquabike athletes will start in one of the waves and race alongside triathletes until the end of the bike.
  • As triathletes dismount to the left, Aquabike athletes will continue riding to the right, following the road until the finish chute.
  • At this point, they will dismount their bikes, hang them on the bike racks, and run or walk across the actual finish line. Helmets and shoes are allowed in the finish chute! Aquabike athletes will be given a finisher medal and provided access to all the post-race areas.

    From the South:

  • Take I-295 North and get off at Exit 17 (Yarmouth/Freeport Exit)
  • At the exit ramp take Route One North. You will pass the Muddy Rudder Restaurant, Freeport Inn and Cafe on your right. At the top of the hill after the Casco Bay Motel, take a right onto South Freeport Road (if you pass the Big Indian, you've gone too far).
  • Take a right onto Staples Point Road (there is a wooden sign for Winslow Park at the corner of South Freeport Road and Staples Point Road).
  • Stay on Staples Point Road all the way to the end and you will come into Winslow Park.

    From the North:
  • Take I-295 South and get off at Exit 20 (formerly exit 19).
  • Take a left at the end of the exit ramp.
  • At the first traffic light after the overpass take a right onto Route One South.
  • Stay on Route One South until you come to South Freeport Road.
  • Take a left onto South Freeport Road (at the Big Indian).
  • Take a right onto Staples Point Road (there is a wooden sign for Winslow Park at the corner of South Freeport Road and Staples Point Road)
  • Stay on Staples Point Road all the way to the end and you will come into Winslow Park.
