Triathlon : Swim 1 Mile, Bike 38 Miles, Run 9.3 Miles |
The Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson, TN is our host for a unique "endurance" distance and a sprint triathlon. The Dickson Endurance Triathlon will be a unique distance longer than Olympic but shorter then a half-iron. The 1 mile swim will be a two loop course in Acorn Lake. The 38 mile bike course is two & 1.2 loops on the roads outside of Montgomery Bell State Park. Our 9.3 mile run utilizes park roads with aid stations at least each mile.
Packet Pickup is set for Friday from 5:30 PM to 7 PM at swim area. Event overviews at 6PM. Packet pickup continues Saturday at 6 AM.
Race start time is 8:15 AM Central Standard Time. Arrive at site no later than 7:00 AM CST for ample time for parking, packet pickup and getting ready for event starting promptly at 8:15 AM CST.
Our events benefit the Friends of Montgomery Bell Park and the new Dickson YMCA. Please look at fund-raising options for these worthy causes.
Hammer Nutrition products in race packets and GU will be available on courses.
SWIM - 1 mile - The swim takes place in Acorn Lake - meaning no current, no large swells and warm water. Wet suits will most likely be allowed. Link to Swim Course Map- http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/27982042
BIKE - 38 miles - The bike is a flat to rolling bike course that is perfect for athletes of all abilities. Athletes will complete 2 1/2 laps with a water bottle exchange on back side of park at Hwy. 47 & Buddy Road. Note: back park entrance will bring cyclist from Rt. 47 onto Jackson Hill Road back to transition.

RUN - 15 kilometers - The run is a challenging out and back course with aid stations each mile.Runners will be on RIGHT going out & LEFT side coming back. Please stay on side of road with cones.Link to Course Map- http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/39465888
The Iron Nugget Sprint will start at 8 AM & Dickson Endurance race at 8:15. Large banners and signs will be placed at the front entrance to the park pointing Sprint cyclists to turn RIGHT into park and Endurance cyclists to continue straight. After the final Sprint cyclist completes one loop and turns back into park, the front entrance will be closed to bike traffic. These changes should enable all racers to complete the bike courses as described.
Our post event cookout is open to spectators at a cost of $5. Kid's under 6 eat free. Quite a deal! Gatorade and water coolers also available for free.
Both events will feature performance shirts, performance socks, water bottles, packet goodies from Dickson Chamber of Commerce, and catered post event party at swim area recreation building.
