The
Ride for Recovery is a family fun and fitness event and a fundraiser for Dawn
Farm. There will be bike rides, runs and walks with opportunities to
participate at various fitness levels, including rides from 10K to 100K, and 5 and
10 K runs/walks. Routes are along scenic, country roads and through a local
Metro park. There will be five rest stops positioned along the routes, with
restroom facilities, drinks, snacks and first aid. SAG support will offer participants assistance
on all routes. All rides, jogs, and walks start and end at Dawn Farm in
Ypsilanti. The event is supported by Team MANA, a cycling team of nurse
anesthetists in Michigan who fundraise though biking. This event has been officially endorsed by the Michigan Governors
Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports!
Registration
prior to the early deadline includes a Ride for Recovery T-shirt. There will be
light breakfast snacks from 7:00 to 9:30, and a "Recovery Celebration"
lunch with hot food from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Families of participants and
others who do not participate in a ride/run/walk event can enjoy arts and
crafts activities in the Community Barn, have a tour of the 63 acre working
farm, visit the farm animals and have lunch and snacks for a $5.00 fee.
In addition to a fun fitness event that the entire family can enjoy, the Ride
for Recovery provides an opportunity to support a critical community service.
Founded in 1973, Dawn Farm provides effective, compassionate and hope-filled
professional care to members of our community who struggle with alcohol/other
drug problems. Dawn Farm's continuum of services includes residential
treatment, detoxification services, outpatient treatment, transitional housing,
and community outreach programs that meet people with addictions where they
are, whether in the mainstream of society, on the streets or in jail. Dawn Farm
is committed to helping people find recovery, regardless of their ability to
pay. Community support for events like the Ride for Recovery helps to keep
these vital services available for those who need them most!
SCHEDULE:
Bike Rides: (Helmets are mandatory
for all riders)
Metric Century "Serenity" ride (100k) - starts 8:00 am.
40 mile "Honesty" ride - starts 8:00 am.
