The swim will leave from the banks of a family farm. It will be a triangular couse, 1000 meters long. The water temperature should be between 70-75 degrees. USAT rules regarding wetsuits will appy. Kayaks and Seadoos will be in the course area to monitor swimmers.See swim route map. | See topo map.
The bike ride will be a 35 kilometer loop with several good climbs, fast downhills, and rolling to flat terrain following the contour of the lake and beautiful Roan Creek. This is an incredibly scenic ride and should be starting to show some good fall colors for the race. See bike route map. | See topo map.
BIKE ROUTE: From church go .8mi, turn left on Dry Hill Rd., go 5mi., cross bridge, immediate right on Hwy. 167, go 6 mi., right on Big Dry Run, go 7.8 mi., right on Dry Hill rd., go 1 mi. then left back to church.
The run will be an out-and-back course of 8 kilometers. The course will be in a pastoral farm setting out to the main road, where it will follow the perimeter of the lake for a short distance before the turnaround and back to the finish area. See run route map. | See topo map.

From Boone, NC:
From the intersection of Highways 321 and 105 (at the Wendy's), take Hwy. 105 South toward Banner Elk, go 1.9 miles.
Turn right at the stoplight onto Hwy. 421 Bypass and go to the end.
Turn left onto Hwy. 321/421.
Go 3.6 miles and turn left onto Hwy. 321.
Go 14 miles and turn right onto Greggs Branch Road.
Go to the end and turn right onto Buntontown Road.
Go 1 mile, crossing Pioneer Landing Bridge, and turn left - this becomes Dry Hill Road.
Go 1.9 miles and turn left onto Sugar Grove Church Road.
Travel .8 mile to the race site.
From Elizabethton, TN:
From the intersection of 19E and 321, travel towards Roan Mountain 5.2 miles.
Turn left onto 67/321 at Shell/Subway station in Hampton and go 16.5 miles (stay on Hwy. 67, do not veer right onto 321).
Turn right onto Hwy 167 and go 2.2 miles, cross bridge over lake (do not turn left at 167).
Go 5.2 miles and turn right onto Sugar Grove Church Road.
