Triathlon : Swim 150 Yards, Bike 9 Miles, Run 2 Miles |
This event is a 250 yd pool swim, local 9.2 mile road ride that travels through both in-town and rural roads coming close to Lake Norman State Park, followed by a two mile out-and-back trail run on the property of Barium Springs. Both the ride and run will be a mixture of sun and shaded areas with some scenic views. There is a moderate elevation change on the bike ride and an uphill finish on the trail run. This race is intended to be a perfect distance for a wide variety of triathletes from the new participant to the seasoned veteran. Attention has been paid to course layout and location to accommadate a variety of skill levels keeping safety in mind.
Swim 250 Yards
This is an excellent pool swim in a 25 yard pool at Barium Springs YMCA. Each participant will be assigned a swim start time based on your estimated 100 yard swim time. It is highly recommended that you submit an accurate swim time in order to limit congestion and crowding in the pool. Pool will be open beginning at 7:15 for warm-up. First Swimmers will go off at 8:00 am in waves based on estimated time to complete the swim portion.
We will stagger the start by 15 seconds to ensure plenty of room for everyone.
Bike 9 Miles:
The bike course is one loop 9.2 mile road ride that travels through both in-town and rural roads coming close to Lake Norman State Park. All roads are open to vehicular traffic but law enforcement will ensure safety at intersections.
Run 2 miles:
The final stretch is a two mile out-and-back trail run on the property of Barium Springs. There will be one water stop
