On Saturday mornings before the sun comes up and while most
of us are still asleep, Vennie Murphy is already hard at work in the Rescue Mission's Good
Neighbor Cafe kitchen preparing breakfast for homeless men and women in
downtown Tacoma. Hes the big guy with the smile behind the cafeteria counter
offering a pat on the back that revives you when your world is falling apart.
To honor Vennies commitment to our communitys most vulnerable, the Mission and Vennies brothers and sisters at IAM District 751 Machinists are co-hosting the Rescue Race: Vennie Murphy 5k for the Rescue Missionon Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Dacca Park in Fife, WA.
Course Information:
5K
The 5K will start and finish on the track at Dacca Park. Racers will run through Dacca Park and out into the neighboring community, then return to the park and run one lap around the track.
Kids, ages 12 and under, can participate in the Kids Dash, a one lap/400 meter sprint around the track. Stay tuned... a special celebrity will be at the front of the line.

- Registration Fees: Adult 5K $25, Youth (under 18) $20, Boeing Employees $10, Boeing Employee Families $15

Take EXIT 137 toward WA-99 N/Fife/Milton.
Turn left onto 54th Ave E.
Turn right to stay on 54th Ave E.
54th Ave E is 0.1 miles past 23rd St E
If you are on Valley Ave E and reach 58th Ave E you've gone about 0.2 miles too far
From Tacoma via Northbound I-5:
Take EXIT 137 toward WA-99 N/Fife/Milton.
Keep right to take the 54 Ave. E. South ramp.
Turn slight right onto 54th Ave E.
Turn right to stay on 54th Ave E.
54th Ave E is 0.1 miles past 23rd St E
If you are on Valley Ave E and reach 58th Ave E you've gone about 0.2 miles too far
