Course Notice: THIS IS NOT A CLOSED COURSE, PLEASE BE AWARE The course will be coned, flagged and marked for your protection. We will have course marshals, certified flaggers and police stationed throughout the course, but please be aware of all traffic. We will have motorcycles as well as HAM Radio Operators monitoring the course and basic first aid needs available at all water stations. Water stations and porta-potties will be located every 1 1/2 2 miles on the course. There will also be Gatorade at every other water station as well as GU energy gels in the Full Marathon at miles 6, 13, 17, 21 and in the Half Marathon at miles 4 and 10.
Both the full marathon and half marathon courses are USATF sanctioned and certified. All participants in the full marathon and half marathon events will be chip timed.
The full marathon course has a six (6) hour participant time limit and is only open to runners.
As you start the race from Beeksma Dr. you will turn right onto Pioneer Way and head east onto E. Bayshore Dr., which takes you along the waterside. When you reach Pioneer Way you will head east and do a short out and back.
As you head back on E. Bayshore Dr. you will reach Flintstone Park and head towards the boardwalk running along the waters edge. A few short turns and then you will head on a paved pathway back up to E. Bayshore Dr. heading east again.
When you reach City Beach St. you will turn south towards the water. At the end of the street you will head west through Windjammer Park on the paved pathway and pass the finish celebration area heading out onto a very solid dirt pathway for a very short distance. Once you leave the pathway you will be on Scenic Heights Road and you will start to have a series of rolling hills where the elevations will be the highest.
There will be a turnaround timing mat located just past Miller Road as you turn back onto Scenic Heights Road. Make sure you go over the mat. There you are in your final two miles of the return before the finish. The Finish Line is located in the park on the grass.
If you are a walker please be careful to allow runners to pass. Do not walk together in rows as this can be quite difficult for a runner to get by.
