Stronghold Challenge : |
Obstacle/Mud Runs : Adventure Run With Obstacles |
Event Details: Our number one goal is for you as a participant to have the most positive race experience you have ever had. We will have volunteers throughout the grounds to help you in any way we can to make sure you enjoy your experience at the Stronghold Challenge.
Re-Scheduling:
This event will NOT be re-scheduled. This is a rain or shine event! (Rain might be more fun!!)
Race Logistics:
We are limiting this event to 300 participants. This is done primarily to ensure that you have the most positive experience possible while at the race. We dont want people climbing all over each other on the course, we also want to ensure that we have ample volunteers and services in place to meet your needs on race day. About 2-3 weeks prior to the race day we will e-mail you with specific details on where to pick up your packet, what time you will start, what food will be available, etc.
The Course:
The full course is a 5K race in which you will two rounds of the course. The course itself has 12 obstacles that you will need to cross, then a final obstacle at the finish which makes 25 total obstacles! If you meet an obstacle you either cant or do not wish to cross there will be a skip penalty defined at each location in the form of burpees, push-ups, etc. So one way or the other you are going to get dirty and be tired when you finish this race.
The Fun Run will be a single trip through the course with some additional aids at the obstacles to make the course less physically challenging. We will also have a Kiddie Course for children 10 and under. This is free and your children must be supervised at all times. We will run the Kiddie race about every 30 minutes. Bag Check:
We will have a secured bag check onsite for race participants only. You must have a bag check tag that will come with your race packet in order for us to store your things.
Food and Drinks We will have food and drinks available for sale at the race site starting around 9:00 a.m. and lasting all day long. We will also have water on the course for participants for free. Child Care:
We will NOT offer any child care. You are responsible for your children at all times. We will have a Kiddie Course available for children 10 and under.
Timing:
For the 5K race we will be using a timing chip system to record accurate times at start and finish. If you lose the chip, replacement cost is $30.
For the Fun Run, we will record heat start times and individual finish times from a stopwatch system. Parking:
Parking for the event will be at Catawba Valley Community College. We will run shuttles to and from the race site approximately every 15 minutes. The race site is less than a mile from the Community College so it is not a long ride. There will be no parking allowed at the race site without a special permit that must be obtained ahead of time. Special permits will be issued for handicapped or other special needs.
T-Shirts:
Each participant will receive a T-Shirt and other goodies as part of their entry fee. If additional T-shirts are desired they can be purchased through the registration website. We will also have a limited number of shirts for sale on site the day of the race.
