2014 Black Diamond Half Iron Distance Triathlon & Duathlon:
- This two-day festival of events takes place at Nolte State Park and includes a Half-Iron Triathlon, Endurance Duathlon on Saturday, as well as a Half-Marathon, Olympic Triathlon & Duathlon and Sprint Distance Triathlon on Sunday.
- The Park is located five miles north of Enumclaw, Washington at the western edge of the Cascade Mountains (just 40 miles from downtown Seattle, WA). This beautiful, scenic countryside serves as the gateway to Mt. Rainier National Park and provides one of the best cycling courses in the Seattle area.
Course Information:
SWIM - 1.2 mi
- Participants will make two diamond shaped clockwise loops (buoys on swimmers right side) in crystal clear Deep Lake located within Nolte State Park. Water temperature is expected to be between 64 - 68 degrees (full wetsuits are recommended).
- Large orange swim buoys (40" diameter) will designate the swim course. Kayakers, resident penguins and medics and will be positioned on the water to support the swimmers. Medical support will be present on the beach.
- Water temperature is expected to be around 65 degrees. The temperature will be taken on Friday and the morning of the race. A full wetsuit is recommended.
BIKE - 56 mi
- The Half Iron Bike Course has taken on a dramatic change from past years and is now comprised of two loops of the Olympic Bike Course along with a short loop to the south of Nolte State Park.
- Total course length is 56 miles.
- The Olympic bike course is on nicely paved country roads over some rolling hills.
RUN - 13.1 mi
- Flat to gentle rolling hills, this looped course is on quiet county roads, with a finish on a wide dirt trail that circles the lake. Do expect to see light vehicle traffic (local residents).
