St. Pete Beach, FL - On March 2, 2014, the youth of Pass a Grille Community Church, PAG will host the 3rd Annual Make a Splash 5k Run and 1K Family Fun Run, on Pass A Grille Beach, Florida. The event begins at 7:30 am with the 5k run, followed at 8:00 am with the 1K family fun run, on the beach at 1500 Pass a Grille Way, St. Pete Beach, Florida. Continuing into the afternoon, at Hurley Park, organizers have carnival themed activities from cupcake decorating and face painting, to a bounce house and balloon animals. The event raises funds for the Senior High Youth mission program at PAG Community Church.
Since the beginning of the program, the over fifty youth involved, have travelled from the slums of Costa Rica to help in the construction of church building to feeding 100 children at orphanages in the drug ravaged capital. One of the youth, Caleb Renault, says the program has, changed my life and offered me an opportunity to see how truly blessed I am and how I can help others.
Last year, the program took them to the streets of Hollywood, California to feed the
highest population of homeless under 30 in America.
Jeanne Haemmelmann, Associate For Youth and Young Adults, says, during these
increasingly tough economic times, community service becomes a cornerstone for our
youth. We need to be proud of our youth, they are sacrificing their time and developing
awareness to the issues that affect our communities and learning how crucial it is to
make a positive impact.
This year 45 youth will travel to Pocahontas, Virginia to rebuild and repair homes for a community in desperate need. They will continue to make a difference, like they have locally this year, where they have made and distributed blankets to the homeless in downtown St. Petersburg, and lunches at tent city, Pinellas Hope.
On March 2nd, 2014 be sure come out and run to support this incredible program and
bring your family along to join in the fun.
Organizers recommend that you come early to enjoy all the activities. Admission is free
and includes access to the park, the vendor area for food and merchandise, the
entertainment area and the silent auction. Additional childrens activities are offered at varied small fees.
