Welcome to Challenge New Albany, the third U.S. event of the globally expanding Challenge Family series of events. Challenge New Albany has an entire weekend of racing for the entire family. The race weekend gets started on Saturday, July 26 with aJunior Challenge Kidz Triathlon and the Challenge Womens Triathlon all in downtown New Albany, Ohio. The Challenge New Albany weekend culminates with Sundays Half and Olympic distance triathlons featuring a unique point-to-point course that starts at Alum Creek State Park and finishes in downtown New Albany.

Challenge Family is the global series of long distance triathlons that is changing the face of long-distance racing around the world. Course Information:

The Challenge New Albany offers participants a unique point-to-point Half and Olympic distance triathlons (with duathlon options), starting from Alum Creek State Park and finishing in downtown New Albany, Ohio. Triathlon participants will be treated to a swim course in the calm waters of Alum Creek Lake while duathletes run an opening 3K-run within the park. From there, participants will cycle on a flat to sometimes rolling bike course that takes participants through eastern Delaware County, Sunbury, and a tour of Licking County before finally arriving in downtown New Albany, where transition No. 2 is located. The run course starts in New Albanys Market Square and meanders along a picturesque course through residential neighborhoods of stately Georgian homes surrounded by meadows, woodlands and waterways. Nearly all the run course will be on New Albanys leisure trail system allowing for a traffic free run course and providing spectacular views of the New Albany Country Club and surrounding neighborhood.

Challenge New Albany (Half) 6:30am at Alum Creek State Park

  • Distances: 1.2mi SWIM, 56mi BIKE, 13.1mi RUN
  • Duathlon: 3k RUN, 56mi BIKE, 13.1mi RUN

Challenge New Albany (Olympic) 7:15am at Alum Creek State Park

  • Distances: 1.5km SWIM, 40km BIKE, 10km RUN
  • Duathlon: 3km RUN, 40km BIKE, 10km RUN

Note: Both events offer a 3-person triathlon or 3-person duathlon relay option.

Other Info:

SHUTTLE SERVICE: A shuttle will run from the New Albany High School (across the street from the Finish Line) to Alum Creek State Park (Start Line) on Sunday, July 27 for Challenge New Albany athletes participating in the half & Olympic distance triathlons. The shuttles will depart New Albany High School at 5:00am and 5:15am.

The shuttle will also stop at the Courtyard Marriott at at 4:30am to pick up Challenge New Albany participants, prior to departing from New Albany High School at 5:00am.

HALF AND OLYMPIC DISTANCE COURSE SUPPORT

There will be aid stations on any of the bike courses at approximately mile 12, mile 25, mile 35 and mile 45 with water and Gatorade (in bottles), ice, fruit and energy gels. On the run course there will be water, ice and Gatorade at approximately every mile of the course. Please prepare accordingly.

The Challenge New Albany Half & Olympic Course Preview will be held from 3:00-4:00pm and 5:00-6:00pm on Saturday, July 26 at the New Albany High School. The preview features a walkthrough of the swim, bike and run courses and transition area.

AWARDS

The top three in all age groups, Clydesdale, Athena, Police & Fire, Military, AquaBike (Swim & Bike only) and all relay team divisions will receive awards.
