2014 Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon - SCROLL DOWN FOR RACE RESULTS:

The Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon is part of the annual Pineapple Festival schedule. We run our event Saturday morning and then party that night at the festival! There is live music, DJ (loud), good food, a bar and other events run during the day. The island of Eleuthera is beautiful! Great for training rides.

PACKET PICK UP: 5.30-7.00 p.m. at the race site the night before Friday June 6. This will save time on race day for all, and you can catch some of the festival. Bring some bug spray maybe if you're susceptible. (It's that time of day =) ) Early registratrants will have extras in their race bag!

THE COURSE: 500 meter swim on a triangle course marked by two buoys in the Gregory Town cove. Swimmers must be careful climbing out the staircase cut into the seawall. Transition swim to bike-stay right of the cone into transition, stay right of the cone exiting transition on your bike. Cyclists run 8 kilometers out to the incredible Glass Window Bridge (technical turnaround at traffic cone), then 8K back. A few climbs and descents feature as well as THE HILL near the start (and end) of the bike. Runners go 5K also climbing the hill out and back to the Cove Resort's entrance as the turnaround.

PRIZES: GREAT PRIZES FOR EACH DIVISION! Such as: 3-night stay (Pineapple Fields); ipad Mini 16GB (Think Simple); 1-night stay+dinner (Rainbow Inn); Beer, Sands Beer, $Cash$ (Island Made Gift Shop); Lunch for two (Laughing Lizard Cafe)

WHERE TO STAY: The Cove Resort (1 mile north of race site) is offering 20% off on race weekend to anyone mentioning the Pineappleman! Also Pineapple Fields Resort (about a 30 min. drive south-but rooms with FULL kitchens) is offering 20% off during race weekend. Mention the Pineappleman Sprint Triathlon when booking! Rainbow Inn has accomodation and is a great restaurant for pre or post-race meals. Also try airbnb, vrbo and flipkey for many house rentals in the area. Laughing Lizard Cafe is offering 10% off all weekend to Pineappleman athletes. Coupons in race bag!

Surfer's Haven guesthouse and affiliated properties - the A Frame House- are also offering a race rate - they are 2 miles south of the race site. Follow race press releases at theeleutheran.com. And search for us on facebook.

Course Information:

Swim:
  • The 500 meter triangle swim course is surrounded by the limestone cliffs of the Gregory Town cove.
  • This leeward cove is usually flat calm and perfect for swimming but can get choppy if a westerly wind picks up.

    Transition area:
  • The transition area is up the steps (careful!) and just to the right.

    Bike:
  • The bike loop will now be out to the Glass Window Bridge (one of the Bahamas' natural wonders) and back.
  • Only climb 'The Hill' twice! (Run remains the same).
  • So the bike is now 16K, longer but maybe a tad easier.

    Run:
  • The 5 kilometer run course once again heads north out of town to the turnaround at the Cove Resort entrance.
  • The Hill is climbed a total of two more times.
  • You can encourage and keep an eye on your fellow competitors on the out-and-back loops, a design which a lot of our racers enjoy!
  • Directions:

  • Eleuthera can be reached directly from both Miami International Airport (American Airlines) and Fort Lauderdale Airport (Continental and Twin Air).
  • Gregory Town is closest to ELH and GHB airports on the northern end of Eleuthera.
  • You can also travel through Nassau and take a ferry from there.
  • Please email Tom for further travel information and information about accomodations.
