Saint Paul, Minn., will be the new destination for the USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships in 2014 and 2015. Sprint and Standard races will be hosted on July 19, 2014, with the Harriet Island Regional Park as the hub for all race-day activity. While in Tucson/Oro Valley, the race had been the largest duathlon west of the Mississippi River, pulling athletes from 44 states in the process. In 2014, you have a chance to participate in one of the largest duathlons ever, where we expect all 50 states to be represented by the best run-bike-run athletes in the nation.
USA Triathlon will offer two race distances for the event a standard 5k run, 35k bike and 5k run, and a 3.25k run, 23k bike, 3.25k run for the sprint. Whether you are looking for the opportunity to compete to be a national champion or simply participate in the most competitive duathlon in the U.S., this race is for you. The capital of Minnesota, Saint Paul is considered one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the country and has an extensive statewide trail system featuring more than 620 miles of paved trails managed by the DNR. The city boasts 104 landmarks on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is just eight miles from downtown Saint Paul.

Standard Distance: 5k run 34.5k bike 5k run; note: 3 loop bike, 1 loop runs
Sprint Distance: 3.25k run - 23k bike 3.25k run; note: 2 loop bike, 1 loop runs

Get warmed up on Summit Avenue, the longest stretch of preserved Victorian architecture in the United States. Run by the Cathedral of Saint Paul, the nations third largest church. In downtown youll run by bronze statues including one of F. Scott Fitzgerald literary icon and writer of the Great Gatsby and Snoopy created by Saint Paulite Charles M. Schulz - in our downtown parks. Run by the Landmark Center where John Dillingers girlfriend was tried for aiding and abetting him in the 1930s. Head down to the West Side Flats, take off your shoes and dip your toes in the mighty Mississippi River.
Now grab your bike and head out to Como Zoo the largest free zoo in the upper Midwest. Zip through the Minnesota State Fairgrounds home to the second largest state fair in the country. Cut back along University Avenue where Light Rail Transit will keep people flowing between Minneapolis and Saint Paul and roll into downtown and catch your breath in historic Rice Park older than Central Park in New York City.
This should have you nice and warmed up for one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the country.
