2011 Power Kids Triathlon
  • The swim is in the Shady Grove YMCA 25 meter pool, located beside the Twin Hickory neighborhood in Richmonds west end.
  • The first group will start first at 8 am sharp.
  • The transition area will open at 7 am; ALL bikes (older and younger kids) need to be placed in position before the transition area closes at 7:45.
  • Post race awards party begins at 10:30 am.

    Distances:
  • Ages 5-8 (min age 5): 50 meter Swim/1.8mi Bike(1 lap total)/.5mi Run
  • Ages 9-14: 100 meter Swim/4.8mi Bike (3 laps total)/1mi Run
  • Distances are approximate and subject to change.
  • Parents will be allowed to run along with their child on their bikes for the 5 to 8 yr. old division only.
  • We will need lots of volunteers, but only "crew" will be permitted in the transition area.

    Ages 5-8 (min age 5): 50 meter Swim/1.8mi Bike(1 lap total)/.5mi Run
    Ages 9-14: 100 meter Swim/4.8mi Bike (3 laps total)/1mi Run


  • Kids bike courses are completely closed to traffic.
  • Kids run course is completely on YMCA property, not on roads and also closed to traffic.

    • Directions:

  • The Shady Grove YMCA is located at 11255 Nuckols Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059. This is also the race site.
  • There will be additional parking on race day behind the YMCA on the HHHunt Property. **

    From East of Richmond
  • Take 64 west to 295 north towards 64 West-Charlottesville.
  • Take the Nuckols Road North Exit which is exit 51A. Get into the left hand land.
  • Turn left at the first traffic light which is Twin Hickory.
  • Make an immediate left turn into the parking lot.

    From Southside Richmond There are 4 ways to come from Southside.
  • 1. From Midlothian tnpk take Chippenham Parkway (RT 150) heading north, cross the Willey Bridge which turns into Parham Road. Follow Parham Road to the 64 West Exit. Take 64W to the 295 exit heading east towards Norfolk/DC. Take the Nuckols Road North Exit 51A. Merge into the left hand land. Turn left at the first traffic light, which is Twin Hickory. Make an immediate left turn into the parking lot.
  • 2. From Huguenot Rd, take Chippenham north (Rt 150) and follow the above.
  • 3. From Chester take 95N to 64 west. Follow to 295 exit heading east towards DC/Norfolk. Take the Nuckols Road North Exit 51A, follow above directions.
  • 4. From Rt. 288 north at Midlothian Tnpk, continue to 64 heading east for less than 1 mile, take 295 east and follow above directions.

    From Ashland or DC/Fredericksburg area
  • Take 95 south to 295 West. Take 295 toward 64 West-Charlottesville.
  • Take the Nuckols Road north Exit which is exit 51A. Merge into the left hand land.
  • Turn left at the first traffic light which is Twin Hickory.
  • Make an immediate left turn into the parking lot.
