  • Farmington is honored to host the first America Tour XTERRA ever in the state of New Mexico.
  • The race features a unique swim-run-bike format, utilizing the fabled Road Apple Rally course on the finishing mountain bike leg.

    Course Information:

    COURSE INFORMATION:
  • Swim: The swim takes place at beautiful Farmington Lake, three miles northeast of Farmington.
  • The 1400 yard distance consists of two 700 yard legs, with a short beach run between laps.
  • Water temperatures are expected to be in the high 50s to low 60s, wetsuits are highly recommended.
  • Spectator viewing opportunities are excellent.

  • Trail Run: The trail run is a point-to-point jaunt from the lake to Lions Wilderness Amphitheatre, site of the run/bike transition and finish.
  • The run circumvents 1/2 the lake before heading to Lions Park over a few short, steep hills.
  • Entering Lions Park, runners are treated to sandstone benches and negotiate arroyo drainages enroute to transition.

  • Mountain Bike: The bike leg takes place on the venerable Road Apple course, site of the annual Road Apple Rally, at 28 years and counting, the longest continuously held bike race in North America.
  • [LI]The course is 86% mature, hardpacked singletrack, and is notable for its speed, twists, and numerous whoops.

  • From Denver: South from Durango on US550 to Aztec, straight through Aztec on 516 to Farmington, right on Pinon Hills Blvd,(at the Ford dealership) right on College Blvd, follow signs to Lions Wilderness Amphitheatre.

  • From Phoenix/Salt Lake City: East from Shiprock on US64 to Farmington. Left on Hwy170 at the western edge of Farmington, (at the bottom of Harper Hill)north 1.4 miles, right on Pinon Hills Blvd, east for 4.6 miles, left on College Blvd, follow signs to Lions Park Amphitheatre.

  • From Albuquerque: Left in Bloomfield at the light, west on US64 to Farmington. Right on Browning Parkway, right on Main, left at Pinon Hills Blvd, right on College Blvd, follow signs to Lions Wilderness Amphitheatre.

    From Lions Park to Farmington Lake:

  • From College Blvd, left on Pinon Hills Blvd, left on Main, proceed 2.3 miles and turn left into the Farmington Lake entrance.
  • You will notice the earthen dam on your left. Proceed to the end of the pavement to the parking area.

  • Lunch will be catered during the awards ceremony at Lions Wilderness Amphitheatre.

  • Late packet pick up, body marking, and stowing bikes in transition will take place at the amphitheatre from 530-645, after which participants will proceed to Farmington Lake for an enmasse swim start.
  • Racers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the lake.
  • Swim gear will be transfered to Lions Park from transition by event personnel to be retrieved after the race by participants.
