Due to popular demand, the Lewis & Clark Sprint Triathlon is adding a Long Course.

The race will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008, in conjunction with the 5th Annual Sprint Triathlon, in Chamberlain, South Dakota.

The Long Course race will begin at 8:00 AM at the American Creek Campground swimming area (located at the North end of Chamberlain, on North Main Street, right along the river).

There will be no race day registration for this event price breaks are offered for early registration.

On-line pre-registration is encouraged.

Packet pickup will be Friday, August 15, 2008.

Course Information:

Long Course Description:

The race course is a beautiful, challenging out and back course (1/2 mile swim, 24 mile bike, 10K run).

From the shore of American Creek swimming beach, racers will swim an open-water ¼ mile, completing two laps.

The bike will begin from the swimming beach parking lot and proceed north out of Chamberlain.

Racers will then turn east and ride approximately 8 more miles out before turning toward the small town of Pukwana.

At Pukwana, racers will turn around and return back on the same course.

From the swimming beach parking lot, runners will then race through Barger Park toward the Missouri Rivers Lake Francis Case.

Runners will cross the Missouri River on historic Old Highway Bridge.

After crossing the Missouri River, runners will turn north toward Cedar Shore Resort on George S. Mickelson Drive.

Runners will turn around near Cedar Shore and return on the same course.

Other Info:

A $100 prize and trophy will be awarded to the overall male and female winners.

Awards will be given for the top 3 finishers in each of the male and female age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.

All first time individual triathlon finishers will receive a medal.

A gift will be given to all participants.

There will be no team competition in the long course event. - - -

There will be no race day registration allowed for this event.

Price breaks will be given for early registration before June 16, 2008 - $25 Individual;

June 17 July 16, 2008 - $30 Individual;

July 17 August 2, 2008 $35 -Individual;

August 3 August 15, 2008 - $40 Individual.

There will be a packet pick-up Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.

Race day packet pick up will be from 6:30 to 7:30 AM at American Creek.
