2012 Black Bear Sprint & Olympic Triathlons:
The Black Bear sprint & olympic distance triathlons will be held on Sunday June 3, 2012.
Both events offer a spectacular course from beginning to end. they are not for the meek and mild but trust us you will be very proud of this accomplishment when you finish.
The races begin at the beautiful beach and into the calm, clear waters of the Beltzville Reservoir.
Next you venture out onto the bike course with yes, some very challenging hills but doable. It's so beautiful you'll forget the pain.
The run course offers a lot of shaded areas through the woods and takes you across the Beltzville Dam for a stunning panoramic view of the entire race.
The swim will be in the beautiful Beltzville Lake.
Access to water is from a public beach.
The water temp can range from 68-76'F.
Both bike courses are one loop course through the scenic and challenging mountains of the Poconos.
The rolling course offers elevations, at times, that exceed 650’.
This course will take place on a combination of paved and hard packed trails.
The trails will take the athletes over the Beltzville Dam (by special permission of the Army Corps of Engineers) offering a panoramic view of the Park and Reservoir.
The Olympic course brings you back through the Finish Area past your friends and family at about mile 3.
The last ½ mile is a very spectator friendly finish for both courses!
