The Event1Runners start at 9:30am and walkers start at 8:30am. The
marathon course closes at 3:30pm (7 hours), and the half marathon at
12:30 (4 hours) so be sure you can finish in the time allowed. The
early start is ONLY for walkers and runners who need extra time.The
Course2The race begins Cedar Ridge Retreat Center in Vernonia, goes
around the lake, proceeds onto the Banks-Vernonia State Trail and
finishes on the Banks High School track. Most of the course runs on the
trail, mostly paved, through scenic woods on an abandoned railroad bed.
The trail is mostly flat with a moderate uphill from miles 10 to 13. The
trail crosses several roads, but is otherwise closed to traffic. Aid
stations and toilets every 2-3 miles and traffic control will be

sweepers on the course to check for injuries and direct people to the
nearest trailhead if they are hurt or unable to finish in the time
allowed. Half marathoners will finish near Tophill Trailhead and be
bused back to Banks. Drop bags will be provided. The last bus leaves
Tophill at 1:00pm. Marathon course closes at 3:30pm. If you are unable
to reach the last aid station at Crossman Road (Mile 23) by 3:00 you
will be pulled from the course and transported to BHS.Buses5The race is
point-to-point. Participants will park in Banks and be bused to the
start. The first bus leaves Banks at 7am and the last bus from Banks to
Vernonia will leave at 8:30am. If you miss the last bus you are
responsible for getting yourself to the start. Half marathoners will
finish near Tophill Trailhead and be bused back to Banks. Drop bags will
be provided. The last bus leaves Tophill at
1:00pm.Registration6Marathon entrants can save by registering by Jan 1,
2012. Fees go up for all on day of race. No ORRC discount day of race.
DOR registration starts at 7:00am. Register early and save! Registration
is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online registration closes 48
hours before the race. Mail registration must be postmarked by 4-8-12.

Junior High School on Saturday April 14th from 4 to 7pm and on race day
from 6:30am to 8:15am.T-Shirt8A limited edition long sleeve Dri-Release
T-shirt is available. Only pre-registered participants are guarenteed a
shirt. Day of race entrants get shirts as quantities last. Register
early to get yours!Awards9Plaques to the overall male and female
winners, and to the overall male and female masters winners. The top
five finishers in each five year age group will earn ribbons. The walk
is non-competitive. Awards will not be mailed. All finishers will
receive a medal. Hot soup, beverages and a random prize drawing will be
at Banks Junior High School after the race. The awards ceremonies will
be at 12:30 and 2:30pm. Showers will be available for

www.orrc.netDirections12Directions: From Portland, take Highway 26 west
to the Highway 6 exit to Banks. Go north into Banks to Banks High School
(450 S. Main St, Banks, OR 97106). Carpooling is
encouraged!Parking13There is ample parking at Banks High School and
Elementary School, on city streets and at Sunset Speedway. There is
ample parking at Cedar Ridge. There is limited parking at the various
trailheads and official vehicles will get priority. Do NOT park in
designated No Parking areas in the school lot as the buses need

You save on entry fees ($5 per event), plus get great benefits by

more. Pay an additional fee of $30 (individual) or $40 (family) for
membership.Vernonia Cares17Vernonia Cares provides the hot soup and pies
for the race. Their mission is to provide emergency groceries to
households in and around Vernonia. Part of race fees goes to support
Vernonia Cares. If you'd like to donate food or money, they are glad to
accept it.
