1st ever Racin the Station Duathlon!
Racin the Station Duathlon is non-sanctioned USAT Run/Bike/Run event where the participants will race the International Space Station (ISS) as it completes one Earth orbit. The ISS completes an orbit every 91 minutes 12 seconds. We will track the starting location of the ISS at the race start time and see who beats the space station by completing the event by the 91 minute 12 second mark.
The event will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), which is on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. The race will begin at 8:30 am.
Registration will be capped @ 300 racers at this time.
Course Information:
The distances are (in three "translations"):
Run pi (km) / Bike e^pi (km) / Run pi (km)
Run 3.14 km / Bike 23 km / Run 3.14 km
Run 1.95 miles / Bike 14.3 miles / Run 1.95 miles
The run course is very flat (same for both legs) and the bike course has a few small hills, but is overall very flat as well.
Directions:
From I-565 in Huntsville, must come in Gate 9 (Rideout Road).
Once on Redstone Arsenal, keep traveling south a few miles then left onto Digney Rd (at Rocket Park).
Building 4316 is on your left before you get to the next intersection (which is Morris Rd).
