2013 Lake Guntersville Olympic Triathlon:

There are few triathlon races which offer such scenic courses throughout the event.
This Olympic distance race starts along the sandy beach of Lake Guntersville State Park and continues to offer unique vistas throughout the event.
Athletes will swim, bike and run in and aroundLake Guntersville State Park.
Come challenge yourself and enjoy an early season race that offers the very best in triathlon racing.

Course Information:



Swim Course:
  • The swim course will start at the beach at Lake Guntersville state Park. Athletes will start in wave starts from the docks and will swim parallel to the shore keeping the boueys to their left. The swim course will be triagular in shape. Athletes will turn left once they swim past the large green bouey. After the second turn, athletes will return to the docks keeping the boueys again on their left, and exit the water at the beach.
  • The water temperatures in this location will be in the upper 60's to low 70's for the race and this will most certainly be a WETSUIT LEGAL swim event.


  • Bike Course:
  • The 24.9 mile bike begins inside LAKE GUNTERSVILLE STATE PARK and follows the small rolling hills for the first three miles of the course to the entrance of the Park.
  • Once athletes exit the Park, they will find a flat fast route which will offer plenty of shade along rural back roads around the Park.
  • The triathletes will retrace the route back to the Park and follow the same rolling hills to transition.
  • Follow the Bike route on Map My Ride.


  • Run Course:
  • The 6.2 mile run is completly within the Lake Guntersville State Park.
  • The run begins in transition and uses the paved and gravel roads throughout the park. The route has some rolling hills and will have plenty of shade on the gravel sections.
